Francesca Levorato studied at the “B. Marcello” Conservatory in Venice under the guidance of M° A. Vismara, F. Merlini, and P. Gastaldello, graduating with distinction in 1987. During her studies, she attended several advanced training courses: in 1982 in Pescaglia with M° P. Vernikov; in Fiesole (1982-83) with M° P. Farulli, Pozzi, Bellugi, Faja, Baldovino, and Michelucci; in 1982 at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Portogruaro with M° Vernikov, Boghino, and Liberman. In 1989, she attended seminars held by M° M. Sirbu, R. Colan, J. Creitz, and M. Dancila. From 1989 to 1990, she took part in a seminar-stage led by M° B. Giuranna, and in 1991-92, she attended a course taught by M° J. Creitz. In 1991, she taught at the Bolzano Conservatory. Since 1986, she has collaborated with the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and from 1990 to 1992, she played with the RAI Orchestra in Milan. She has an intense chamber music career and is a member of important ensembles. Since 1998, she has been the principal viola of I Virtuosi dell’Ensemble di Venezia, with whom she premiered works by Morricone, Perezzani, Baratello, Tutino, Gentile, Ager, Riedl, Cacioppo, Sciarrino, Bussotti, and Sotelo, later broadcast on RAI Radio3. She is also the principal viola of the Accademia Vivaldiana di Venezia, where she also performs as a soloist. Since 1999, she has been a permanent collaborator with the Accademia di San Giorgio. In September 2002, she collaborated with the Cantelli Orchestra in Milan. Her artistic experience has been enriched by collaborations with renowned musicians such as R. Rogoff, S. Milenkovich, B. Canino, P. De Maria, G. Sollima, and D. Nordio. Recently, as the principal viola of the Ensemble Venetia Antiqua, she has also dedicated herself to the study and dissemination of Baroque music, following historical performance practices on period instruments.
